Message from the President
When we began planning this chapter, the idea was simple: medical laboratory students at Jimma should not have to wait until graduation to feel part of their profession.
Much of the evidence behind a diagnosis is produced in a laboratory. The habits that make a result trustworthy, such as care, honesty and attention to quality, are learned early, and they are easier to learn together. That is what JUMLSA is for: seminars and journal clubs, student research, mentorship from people already working in the field, and service in the community that Jimma University has always asked us to learn from.
Our proposal is now with the Ethiopian Medical Laboratory Association. Whatever year you are in, there is a place for you here, and we would like your help building it.

Her role
Meletetsega leads the Executive Committee and chairs the General Assembly. She is responsible for the chapter’s relationship with EMLA and its participation in national activities.
Under the first-year plan she is responsible for convening the General Assembly and, with the Executive Committee, for the chapter’s participation in EMLA national activities.
